Ag 1 Source is looking for an Ingredient Purchasing Manager for a well respected and progressive feed and nutrition company based in the heart of the New York state dairy industry. The Ingredient Purchasing Manager will lead the strategic purchasing plan for commodities, additives and premixes at the processing facility. They will develop a strategic and risk management approach across our critical purchases to ensure that the company is continually working towards competitive pricing and actively leading key negotiations. The Ingredient Purchasing Manager will lead and manage the procurement team to actively ensure inventory is optimized and partner where possible with the divisions within the organization to maximize wins and share information. Upwards opportunities within the company Primary leadership functions for the Ingredient Purchasing Manager include:
Identifies, initiates and coordinates leads procurement improvement projects, with a main objective to generate cost savings on both direct and indirect spend categories in collaboration with the global cluster lead
Make or buy decisions; optimizing the usage of internal production capacity in collaboration with sales production
Perform detailed spend, market trends and supplier analysis across operations as a basis to identify opportunities
Improve the accuracy of key system parameters: safety stock, working stock, lead times of all raw materials
Develop into a key user using existing benchmarking tools reports in Business Objects to measure procurement performance across OpCos on cost, cash, service, quality and sustainability
Overall responsible for the successful implementation and upkeep of key priorities such as payment term optimization, raw material market guidance calls, contracting compliance, and position and risk management within the organization
Improve the accuracy of forecasting, contract management delivery of raw materials A successful candidate for this Ingredient Purchasing Manager position will possess the following:
College/University degree or equivalent education/experience
7 10 years working experience in commodity purchasing
Must be a self-starter
Strong results orientation, has a sense of urgency and strong personal drive
Proven skills to work in an international and diverse organization; effective working in a culturally diverse environment
Good and pleasant communicator, as an enabler to build and maintain relations
Proven analytical and problem solving skills, including affinity to statistical analysis and financials: rigorous but pragmatic
Proven negotiation skills in a tactical and strategic context, without harming supplier and OpCo relationships: has a track record to deliver improvements and savings
Experienced in developing sourcing strategies, sourcing policies and procedures, ideally in both direct and indirect spend categories
Experienced in managing projects to improve payment conditions
Fluent in English, additional languages are an advantage;
Good computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet and power point presentation applications as well as email programs
Willing to travel as required
Compensation: Base salary and bonus program will be based upon experience and previous earnings.
