A top leader in animal nutrition is searching for a Director of Operations for their facility in southern Idaho. As a member of the leadership team, the Director of Operations is responsible for the development and execution of the strategic plan for the operations component of an animal feed nutrition company related to aquculture. This role oversees all internal operational functions, ensuring all processes are efficient and effective in the use of resources to meet customer and business requirements.RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct and coordinate activities of managers/departments concerned with the production, purchase, distribution of products, food safety, and customer service
- Monitor the facility to ensure that it remains safe, secure, and well maintained
- Support development, implementation, maintenance and on-going improvement of SQF Systems
- Assure and enforce compliance with all Food Safety Guidelines, work rules, Standard Operating Procedures, FDA and OSHA guidelines, as well as Federal and State laws governing the workplace
- Develop and monitor the overall organizational structure of the location
- Ensure the most effective and efficient use of facility resources
- Provide guidance and oversight in preparation of project understandings, schedules, budgets, fee proposals and negotiations
- Work with regulatory agencies as appropriate and necessary
- Represent the business with key customers and suppliers as necessary
- Review financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement; determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement
- Establish and implement departmental polices goals, objectives, and procedures
- Determine staffing requirements and oversee all other personnel processes
- Ensure employee development and performance management for direct reports and support teams
- Prepare annual expense and capital budget for all operational and administrative activities and be aware of P&L contribution
DESIRED PROFILE:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant industry related field (ex: animal science) required
- 5+ years of experience in management in animal nutrition or animal feed production
- Proven expertise in manufacturing processes, food safety, and regulatory (animal health/additives/premix)
- Strong technical knowledge of poultry, swine, pet food feed production practices
- Existing network in the feed industry – swine, poultry, pet food contacts a plus
- Demonstrated success achieving budgeted results
- Excellent communication, presentation and leadership skills
- Expertise in leveraging CRM systems and sales pipelines
