One of the world's largest merchandisers and processors of agricultural goods is seeking a Shift Supervisor for their Seattle, WA facility.Reporting directly to the Elevator Superintendent, the Shift Supervisor is accountable for all actions in receiving/shipping grain through the facility and schedules production. This role manages the high-capacity elevator grain quality and space and coordinates rail shipments.Recent graduates with internship experience in the ag/grain industry are invited to apply! REPONSIBILITIES:Rail Unload Operations

  • perform daily rail unloading operations and process car lists and grade information
  • collect grain samples
  • input grade details into inventory system
Ship Loading Operations
  • monitor ship loading activities
  • meet load order requirements
  • adjust stock levels in inventory system
  • blend grain and ensure load orders and U.S. Grain Standards Act practices are followed
Safety and Administrative Operations
  • perform inspections in the elevator, to include safety, housekeeping and mechanical equipment
  • inspect rail yards and grounds
  • ensure safety equipment is in good working order
  • issue permits for required tasks
  • conduct safety meetings and monitor employees and outside contractors to ensure that all Safety and Company policies are followed
Employee Supervision
  • Directly or indirectly supervise up to 17 employees, including scale/console operators, locomotive/ switching, barge and truck unloading and housekeeping employees, grain inspection personnel and occasionally mechanics and electricians.
DESIRED PROFILE:
  • Some education with exposure/experience in grain handling/bulk commodity operations (preferably in a supervisory role), including responsibility for meeting production and safety standards
  • Knowledge of OSHA and other safety practices related to grain elevators
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve operating efficiencies while maintaining strong labor relations
  • Understanding of logistics (e.g., vessel, rail or truck) and inventory management
  • Knowledge of USDA/GIPSA Grain Standards Act for an export terminal
  • Knowledge of grain commodities and grades
